Updated 05/04/2019 ### May 3, 2019, 2:55 PM Update for residents of Stoneham, Reading, Wakefield, Winchester, Wilmington and Woburn: MWRA staff have just shut down the leaking pipeline and are mobilized on-site to begin the assessment and repair, which may take several days. If the water is clear, it is safe to drink. If it is rusty, this is due to a change in the direction of the flow that knocks off small particles of rust and stir up sediments in the pipes. It is a temporary condition that usually clears up in a couple of hours. Residents of Stoneham, Reading, Wakefield, Winchester, Wilmington and Woburn: If possible, you should refrain from using water -- for laundry, dishes, cooking and drinking -- until the condition clears up. ### May 3, 2019, 10:50 AM We have a water main break in Stoneham today. As we isolate the main and reroute the water, residents in Stoneham, Reading, Wakefield, Winchester and Wilmington may have discolored water. If discolored water does occur, please do not do laundry at this time, as it could stain light colored clothing. Residents should wait for the water to clear before using it. ### Sign up for MWRA email and mobile notifications through everbridge. |
