The Boston Fire Department has cleared the facility for re-entry. No further trace of hydrogen cyanide has been detected.
Both the Fire Department and MWRA will continue to monitor the location for the next day or so.

Early this morning, hydrogen cyanide was detected in the lower levels of MWRA’s Chelsea Headworks Facility. The Chelsea Fire Department and Boston/State Hazardous Materials Units are on site.
No injuries have been reported. The Fire Departments continue to investigate the situation.
The Chelsea Headwords removes grit and floatable materials prior to transfer via a deep rock tunnel to Deer Island for treatment.There is no impact to drinking water or sewer service.
