About this Project:
MWRA's Northern Intermediate High Redundant Pipeline project will include a 48-inch diameter pipe which will extend from Gillis Pump Station located at Spot Pond on Woodland Road north to the Stoneham/Wakefield line. This pipeline is of particular importance to Stoneham as it will provide a redundant water supply loop. The water pipe loop will result in a more reliable water supply for Stoneham and other service communities particularly in the event of a pipeline failure. Updates on this important project will be posted here.
The proposed route of the new pipeline will be from the Gillis Pump Station along Woodland Road, Main Street, Marble Street, Wright Street, Cottage Street, Elm Street, Williams Street, Oak Street, North Street and Prospect Street.
The entire project will be completed under two separate construction contracts scheduled to begin in Fall 2016 with an anticipated completion date of December 2019.
