Dear Water Customer,

Your water and sewer services are provided to you through a cooperative effort between the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) and the Malden Waterworks Division. The City works closely with the MWRA on testing and monitoring our systems. Malden meets all water test regulations, resulting in the delivery of high quality water at an average of one cent per gallon.

The Malden water and sewer system has been serving the community since the late 1800’s. While many updates have been made over the years, repairing and improving the system will always be a work in progress. The City remains committed in its effort to improve the aging pipe network.

The Water Department has added several new employees and equipment to improve its ability to maintain the water distribution system. The Water Department surveys the water system with leak detection equipment, and is working to find and repair leaks. Water conservation has to be a priority for everyone. We encourage all consumers to use water wisely.

Our ongoing program requiring the testing of water meters 2” and larger, a minimum of once every 5 years, to assure that they meet regulations and standards continues. This has resulted in more accurate readings, assuring fairness to all water customers. We appreciate your anticipated patience and cooperation when called upon to comply with these regulations.

Thank you, if you should have any questions, or concerns, please call Gary Stead at the Malden Department of Engineering, Planning and Waterworks at (781) 397-7040.
