Please note: This work has been re-scheduled for Friday, February 17.
The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is in the next phase of replacement of an existing water pipeline that traverses through Winchester called the Section 89 Supply Main. The new pipeline will improve the water supply and redundancy for the Town of Winchester and neighboring towns during high demand periods.
In order to install a large concrete valve structure on Forest Street on the above date, the MWRA‘s contractor, P. Gioioso & Sons, has hired a 350- ton crane to unload and lift the sections into place. The crane and delivery trucks will temporarily occupy one lane on Forest Street.
As a result, Forest Street will be restricted to a single lane of traffic from 9:00 AM. After the work is completed during a 12-hour period, the traffic restriction will be removed. Police details will be provided along Forest Street for traffic and pedestrian safety.
Please allow some extra time on this day in the event of traffic delays. We apologize for any inconvenience encountered as a result of this project.
