On Wednesday and Thursday, September 1 - 2, 2021 the MWRA has arranged with Quincy Water Department to test a water main shutdown at Beale Street and Summit Ave in Quincy. The test will begin on Thursday morning at approximately 9 AM and be completed by approximately 12 PM (noon) on Friday. See map (PDF) for clear location.

On both Thursday and Friday mornings, between approximately 9AM and noon, there will be temporary flagging on Beale Street in the vicinities of Adams Street and Summit Ave. This is in order for the MWRA and Quincy Water Department to access water valves located under the roadway. Drivers should expect some traffic slowdown when traveling in this area.

While no water service disruptions are expected, Quincy residents in the area may experience discolored water or slightly reduced pressure during the water main shutdown. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

This test shutdown will allow MWRA prepare for future upgrades to the water system. The MWRA appreciates your cooperation during this important water improvement project.
