Governor Baker Swears in Newest Boston Member to MWRA Board

On Monday, January 14, 2019, Governor Baker swore in Christopher Cook as MWRA’s newest Board member, representing the City of Boston.

Mr. Cook was appointed by Mayor Martin Walsh as one of the City’s three representatives on MWRA's eleven-member board of directors. He fills a board seat vacated by Austin Blackmon in July 2018.

Mr. Cook serves as Boston’s Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space for the City of Boston in June 2018. He holds this position in addition to his role as Commissioner of the Boston Parks Department. He is responsible for leading the Cabinet in achieving its mission of enhancing the quality of life in Boston by protecting air, water, climate, and land resources, and preserving and improving the integrity of Boston's architectural and historic resources.

Mr. Cook received his Master’s in Public Administration from Suffolk University and a BA in English/Theatre from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He lives in West Roxbury with his wife and two daughters.
