On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, Governor Charlie Baker swore Andrew M. Pappastergion in to his eighth term as a member of the MWRA Board of Directors. MWRA Advisory Board Executive Director Joseph Favaloro and MWRA Executive Director Frederick Laskey attended the ceremony.
MWRA is governed by an eleven-member board of directors. Members are appointed by the governor or by elected officials in MWRA’s customer communities. Mr. Pappastergion was first appointed by the MWRA Advisory Board in 1997.
Mr. Pappastergion, who serves as MWRA Board Secretary, is the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works for the Town of Brookline. Prior to that he was Director of the Water and Sewer Division for 25 years, and previously served as a project engineer for design and construction of improvements to the utility infrastructure. He has served as an active member of the MWRA Advisory Board since 1985, and was Chairman for five years. Mr. Pappastergion is a graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, is licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer and holds a Grade 4 Operator's License for Drinking Water Supply Facilities in Massachusetts.
