MWRA Work On Beacon Street, Brighton
Will Impact Traffic and Bike Lane, Discolored Water Possible

ocation of MWRA Water Pipeline Work at 2490 Beacon Street, Boston

Location of MWRA Water Pipeline Work at 2490 Beacon Street, Boston

On Monday September 19, 2016, Operations will be completing a water blow-off retrofit project at 2490 Beacon St. in Brighton, approximately 20 feet east of the intersection of Beacon St. and Malia Terrace. The work will take two weeks to complete.

Potential Traffic Impacts

This project will require the closure of the east bound lane and the bike lane. The west bound lane will be open and an officer will be on site to direct car and bicycle traffic.

Possible Water Discoloration

The water pipe will be isolated for approximately one day. No water service interruptions are expected. Discolored water is not anticipated but is possible. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

For more information, please contact Jeff McLaughlin at MWRA at (617) 305-5762 or MWRA's 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5950.
