Water Pipeline Work May Cause Discolored Water
in Parts of Arlington, Belmont and Lexington

Beginning on January 20, 2016, MWRA contractor RJV Construction will be installing new water connections in Arlington as part of MWRA’s water pipeline project 7448.

This work will require a series of pipeline isolations, which may cause temporary water discoloration in parts of Arlington, Lexington and Belmont.

A tentative schedule, which is weather-dependent, follows:

January 20, 2016 – February 1, 2016
Section 82 will be isolated and may cause temporary water discoloration in parts of Arlington and Lexington.

February 1, 2016 – February 14, 2016
Section 81 will be isolated and may temporary water discoloration in parts of Arlington, Belmont and Lexington.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents in these locations should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work.
