On Monday, August 3, 2015, MWRA Board members Andrew Pappastergion and Jennifer Wolowicz were sworn in to new terms by Governor Charlie Baker.
MWRA is governed by an 11-member board of directors who are appointed by the governor, or directly by elected officials in MWRA’s customer communities.
Mr. Pappastergion currently chairs the board’s Water Policy and Oversight Committee. Mr. Pappastergion was re-elected to his 7th term by the MWRA Advisory Board in May. Mr. Pappastergion is the Commissioner of Public Works for the Town of Brookline. Prior to that he was Director of the Water and Sewer Division for 25 years, and previously served as a project engineer for design and construction of improvements to the utility infrastructure. He has served as an active member of the MWRA Advisory Board since 1985, and was Chairman for five years.
Ms. Wolowicz was appointed by the Governor Patrick to serve as the MWRA board representing the Connecticut River Basin. She was reappointed to her 2nd term by Governor Baker in May. Ms. Wolowicz is the Assistant Town Administrator for the Town of South Hadley. Prior to that she was the Personnel Officer/Chief Procurement Officer for seven years. She serves on the Water Commission for the City of Chicopee and also is a member of the Chicopee Municipal Employees Credit Union Board of Directors.
