MWRA Work May Cause Discolored Water in Areas of Brookline
On Tuesday June 30th, MWRA crews, in conjunction with Brookline Water, will be installing a pipeline connection to Brookline’s Low Service System on Fisher Avenue. The work will be conducted between the hours of 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. The work is being completed during the off hours to minimize any potential disruption to Brookline’s water service.

This process may result in reduced pressure in higher elevations and discolored water in the area northeast of the Brookline Reservoir (area in green on map) for a period of up to 3 days.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. While safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents near this location should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work.

There is additional pipe installation required that will occur during the day. We anticipate being in this area for approximately two more weeks. If you have any questions please call MWRA at 617-305-5950.
