Fred Laskey Receives Environment Award |

On Tuesday, October 7, 2014, MWRA’s executive director Fred Laskey received the 2014 Norman B. Leventhal Environment Award from A Better City. Named for the founder of A Better City, the Leventhal Awards recognize leaders and innovators who have made significant contributions to the built environment in the areas of transportation, land development and environment. Mr. Laskey was recognized for his dedication to bettering the region’s environment through his leadership of the of the MWRA, which is responsible for providing clean drinking water to communities in eastern and central Massachusetts. During his 13-year tenure, he has overseen more than $2 billion of capital construction projects to finish the clean-up of Boston Harbor and the Charles, Mystic and Neponset Rivers, as well as the harbor's beaches. MWRA has also been recognized nationally for its sustainability and renewable energy initiatives. |
