Introducing Taylor and Julia - Deer Island’s Peregrine Falcon Chicks

MWRA- Falcon at Deer Island, June 2014
MWRA - Joe Duplin, Peregrine Falcon Chick, Deer Island

High atop the egg-shaped digesters at the Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, a pair of nesting Peregrine Falcons have finally become parents. Two chicks, both female, were hatched about 4 weeks ago. They were named Taylor and Julia by Joe Duplin, Shift Operations Manager at the plant. Joe has been trying to get a pair of falcons to nest for about 12 years.

Special thanks to Tom French from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife who went out to the island to band the pair and give them a quick check-up; highlights are posted on MWRA's You Tube page.
