On Monday, May 13, 2013, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be performing water valve work on the Watertown Section Pipeline on:
- Newton and River Streets in Waltham, and
- Pleasant Street in Watertown
This pipeline isolation work is being performed in preparation of Contract 7222 and will result in the closure of Water Meter 148 to Waltham and Meter 92 to Watertown. As a result of these closures, flow reversal to the areas served by those meters may observe discolored water.
The general areas served by these meters are River and Willow Streets in Waltham and Pleasant Street in Watertown. No loss of pressure is anticipated.
If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in the pipes. While safe for drinking, cooking, and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work.
Please call MWRA at (617) 305-5950 if you have any concerns. ### |
