MWRA Dam Work to Temporarily Lower Reservoir Levels |
||||||
This week, MWRA will temporarily lower the levels of three reservoirs to allow its contractor, TFord Company, Inc., to safely complete dam repairs and erosion control work required by the Massachusetts Office of Dam Safety. MWRA operations staff are lowering the levels of the Wachusett Open Channel and Sudbury Reservoir in Southborough and the Chestnut Hill Reservoir in Newton/Boston. The temporary reductions of 2-5 feet will occur slowly and will not harm the reservoirs’ plants or wildlife. Neighbors should be advised that the reduced water levels will reveal some mud flat areas from Marlborough to Southborough. MWRA will restore these reservoirs to normal levels upon the completion of the work in June, 2012. For more information, please contact the following MWRA staff: Wachusett Open Channel and Sudbury Reservoir Chestnut Hill Reservoir Updates will be posted on www.mwra.com as the work progresses. |
