MWRA DRINKING WATER QUALITY TEST RESULTS |

The US Enivronmental Protection Agency has recently announced that it will revise the existing drinking water standards for four contaminants that can cause cancer.
The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority already tests for two of these compounds. Trichloroethylene and Tetrachloroethylene are part of the Volatile Organic Compound testing we conduct each year. Neither of these compounds have been detected.
Acrylamide and Epichlorohydrin are used by some treatment plants as water coagulation agents. EPA currently regulates the amount of these chemicals used by those plants rather than requiring testing for them. MWRA doesn't use either of these treatment chemicals, and therefore would not expect to find these compounds in its water supply.
