NEXT PROJECT TO REPAIR SOUTHERN SPINE PIPELINE AWARDED |

On December 16, MWRA awarded the Southern Spine 107 Phase 2 Project to RJV Construction Corp., Inc. This project is part of MWRA's Southern Spine Distribution Mains Rehabilitation Project, a five-part program to improve water service for Quincy and Milton and parts of Boston, to modernize the water distribution system, provide adequate capacity, and connect to MWRA's new Blue Hills Covered Storage Facility. The $14.5 million project is is eligible to receive $1.07 million through the Commonwealth's State Revolving Fund program. Work will include the replacement of 1.7 miles of 48-inch diameter water main and the relining of an additional 4,000 feet of pipe. Construction activity is scheduled to begin in February 2010, and will take place along Adams Street from from East Milton Square to Dorchester Lower Mills. In January, MWRA will hold neighborhood meetings to go over the schedule, project route and the traffic plans in detail with the neighbors and local businesses. Work is expected to be complete in 2013. ### |
