The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) and its contractor, P. Gioioso and Sons Inc. of Hyde Park, are installing approximately 10,300 feet of 36-inch water main in University Avenue in Norwood. The project impacts University Avenue from Canton Street to Everett Street and Route 1, Providence Highway. The pipeline will provide another way for Norwood to get water from the MWRA’s system. To date, approximately 9,000 of the 10,300 feet of pipe have been installed. Construction is currently focused at the western end of University Avenue and will be ongoing for the next month. Within the next week to ten days, construction will begin along Route 1 moving in a northerly direction. Some of work along Route 1 will be accomplished at night. Work is currently scheduled to be completed by November 4, 2008. Like all major construction projects, this date is subject to change. Check this web site for updated information.
