Construction Begins on Memorial in Honor of |
|
Work has begun to construct a memorial to honor the late Federal District Court Judge A. David Mazzone, in recognition of his contributions to the Boston Harbor Cleanup. A dedication ceremony is planned to be held on October 19, 2007. From 1985 to 2004, Judge Mazzone oversaw the design and construction of MWRA's Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant and other major sewer facilities on behalf of the federal court. The memorial will be comprised of granite installations and a bronze sculpture in the Judge's likeness. It will be located near the entrance of the Deer Island Public Access area. A private committee including the Judge's family, friends and colleagues, was formed to raise the necessary private funding for the memorial, which was designed by landscape architects Polly Reeve and Margaret Coyle Nestler and local sculptor Joseph Pesce. ### |
