MWRA TAP WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK |
|
The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority would like customers in the water service area to know that your drinking water is safe. Drinking water for MWRA-served communities comes from the Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs in Central Massachusetts and is treated at the Carroll Water Treatment Plant in Marlborough. The treated water is transported to your home in sealed pressurized pipelines and cannot be contaminated by local flooding conditions. MWRA tests the water each step of the way from the source reservoirs to the tap using EPA and DEP approved methods at MWRA’s certified laboratory. All results continue to show that the water meets all public health standards. You should avoid contact with water from flooding as it may be contaminated. If you do come in contact with flood waters, make sure you wash your hands and any clothing that may have gotten wet. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has a home care guide for flooding and sewage back-ups on its website at: <http://www.mass.gov/dep/water/laws/flooding.htm> (external link). Please call the MWRA’s Water Quality Hotline at (617) 242-5323 if you have any questions or would like more information. # # # |
