MWRA NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release: September 16, 1999 In preparation for any contingencies that may result directly from Hurricane Floyd or subsequent heavy weather, the MWRA will activate its Emergency Operations Center and have emergency crews standing by beginning at 12:00 PM Thursday, September 16th. This storm has the potential to deliver very heavy rain and could result in flooding of low-lying areas and the surcharging of vulnerable sewer and drainage systems. MWRA emergency crews will be standing by to take any necessary action. The MWRA Emergency Operations Center will coordinate and direct all MWRA emergency response activities.
